Light rain, snow falls across North Texas, but ground too warm for wide travel problems

Dallas County, TX - Light snow fell on Tuesday night across parts of North Texas.

Ground temperatures were too warm, though, for regional travel problems.

“Some slick spots will be possible on bridges and overpasses,” according to a National Weather Service forecast.

Snow accumulation is more likely on elevated surfaces, especially across western North Texas and along the Red River Valley, where temperatures are colder.

Slippery road conditions are possible on Tuesday night. Drivers can check current road conditions at drivetexas.org.

“Pockets of surface road slush and slick spots on bridges and overpasses will be possible,” according to the weather service forecast. Surface roads should remain “drivable.” The weather service advised drivers to take it slow on roads and to monitor the forecast for updates.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 12 a.m. Wednesday for areas in the northwestern-most portions of North Texas including Cisco, Graham, Bowie, Denton, Sherman, and Paris, where minor travel impacts can be expected.

Commutes on Wednesday morning may also be affected if melted snow refreezes.

In Fort Worth, Trinity Boulevard was closed Tuesday near Precinct Line Road because of reports of high water.

Delayed flights at DFW and Dallas Love Field airports

There had been 226 delays and 19 canceled flights as of Tuesday afternoon at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and 44 delays and 8 cancellations at the Dallas Love Field Airport, according to data from FlightAware.

At DFW Airport and Love Field, departure traffic was experiencing gate hold and taxi delays of 15 minutes and arrival traffic was experiencing airborne delays of 15 minutes, according to data from FlightView.

Power outages in Tarrant and Dallas County

There were 138 outages in Tarrant County and 90 outages in Dallas County , according to data collected at around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday from the Oncor Storm Center.
