12-YEAR-OLD BOY KILLED IN GRAND PRAIRIE CRASH
Garland, TX: The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Friday, June 23rd in the 2200 block of S. Belt Line Road.
At approximately 10:45pm, a vehicle was traveling south on Belt Line Road when it struck a passenger car that was turning left onto East Cober Drive. The driver of the first vehicle fled the scene on foot. A passenger was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the passenger car was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 12-year-old male passenger was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased.
The driver who fled has been identified as Damian Torres, 21 years of age. Today, Saturday, Torres turned himself in and is being held at the Grand Prairie Detention Center on the following charges: Manslaughter, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Accident Involving Death, Accident Involving Injury.
The crash remains under investigation.
